wb jason.
Re straight back - if human beings were designed for sports or any sort of athletics our body would be totally different - every animal on the planet is better than us - faster, stronger, more agile, flexible... non of them is human shaped and all are suitable for a specific purpose. Humans are designed for adaptablilty mostly - the ability to be able to do different things, and mostly use brains and not the body. I think that fire was invented when proto-men were still hunchbacked, but can't be sure. Still, if not fire, the use of sophisticated tools would enable humans to depend less on the body. Also - evolution seems to be able to get rid of undesirable properties pretty fast. I doubt that it would have kept the straight back if it was harmful when it's so easy to go back.

Re - today's page - nice rays of light effect. i wonder what time of day it is over there.

I think it's sunrise (i guess how that's calle, the beggining of the day), pretty_blosson, since it's the first time we see sunrays. That, or he was somewhere heavily poluted and got out of there in this exact place, letting some sun get to him.

Matt, the words I was going o write exactly (I used to think he must be dressed the same as the boy at the begining, but Yasu's clothes made me change my thought). By the way, are you the same as the one of Oriosi's Edge?

This is Great!

long rays of light can be achieved by partial clouding and on sunset too aside from sunrise. The rest of the scene didn't have any special lighting effects so I can't tell. The bombing will create a dust-cloud over the area and that will create that effect too.
As for who the guy in the cloak is - look at the banner ;-)
by Jason @ 03 August 2007 00:24 am
Regarding the light: I would like to think that the buildings were blocking the rays earlier...but now the setting shifted to the edge of the city where there are less buildings. But honestly, it doesn't matter. And yes...if you look up at the banner, there are light rays in that one too...

Regarding human athletes -- I realize that humans were not evolved into sports athletes...but it doesn't change the fact that it'd be more efficient with a lower center of mass. If I assumed humans were already perfect, there wouldn't be Angels...thus, my Angel have to be superior in at least that area.

Many animals do infact have "straight" backs which the acutal best posture has a slight curve pushing your chest out a bit. On center of gravity you might want to note that all of those were defensive positions. It actuall takes us less energy walking and running on our two legs than our primate relatives are on two legs or all fours. And just cause I think its interesting: the fastest runner in the world was a cockroach runnning full speed on its back legs (by scale)

"By the way, are you the same as the one of Oriosi's Edge?"

Yeah, I am. I'd no idea people KNEW about that.

Anyway, about Torio and Shino... to be absolutely honest, I never particularly liked them (although I never read gen. 1, so maybe they were more endearing if one read them all), so I wouldn't mind much if their characters were changed. *shrug*

xD

Woo, the lightning is pretty good and symbolic I reckon. Plus, your kinda right, the hunched back thing does have several advantages that standing upright doesn't have. Of course, being able to be comfortable in BOTH is a pretty big plus, so the Angel does rock genetics. It's like saying would rather swim or fly or both? Both obviously :D

two words: Bad Ass

anyway, I feel really bad for the angle now...
And we know what he's going to look like, we've seen in the beginning of this chapter and its doubtful he'll look different from his form in the previous book.
by Jason @ 05 August 2007 12:08 pm
@"Jason's cousin": Ha...at first I was wondering who you were, but then I figured your brother wouldn't say he "hearts" me. Or at least I don't think he would... Anyway, I miss you too! Things have been so *quiet* without you.
