   ABOUT
Who's the author/creator/webmaster/etc?
That would be me, Jason Lai. All the information regarding me can be found on the Author Page (or at least as much information as I'm willing to share).

When did ROL open? How did ROL come about?
The site started back in January 2005 as a sprite comic under the title "Realm of Losers"; This phase is now considered Generation 1. A year later on January 2006, I shifted to a drawn comic and changed the site title to the acronym "ROL", standing for "Resurrected Organic Lifeforms". This experimental phase is considered Generation 2. A few months later on March 2006, I moved to Generation 3 under the title, "ROL: Uprising of Deities". After producing over 175 pages, I ended the storyline and moved to Generation 4 on June 2007 under the title, "Project ROL", where it now stands for "Retribution of Lambs". All comic pages can still be found in the archives.

What tools do you use to create your graphic novel?
As of June 2007, I use pencil and paper to sketch out the layout, then ink the characters with a Speedball 102/107 nib on an ink pen, the backgrounds with a Micron pigment pen, and the panels with a thicker Staedtler pigment liner. Other tools include rulers, erasers and cloth to wipe off the ink. All coloring and cleaning is done in Adobe Photoshop CS on a Virtual Machine Server (VMware) on a linux distro (Debian).

When did you start drawing?
I've doodled pictures all my life, but I didn't start drawing seriously until Generation 2 during late 2004 and early 2005.

What web coding/script/CMS does your website run on?
Generally just PHP, CSS, HTML, and MySQL. I admit there's a little Javascript here and there, but I try to keep it at a minimum. The comic script was created by me specifically for this website; in other words, the PHP/MySQL source code is not open for public view. The forums, on the other hand, is created by the SMF coders.

Where can I find the template you use?
I really don't know why I get this question so often: This web design was created from scratch BY MYSELF without any external help. I used pencil, paper, and ink to draw Haruko in the banner. Adobe Photoshop CS was used to create the images and overall design. And finally, I used a text editor to code everything with CSS. No template was used.

How do I sign up in for an affiliation or link exchange?
Well, assuming you have a webcomic and not some random non-related website, go to the links page and look for the application instructions. I reserve the right to deny any applicants for any reason. Generally, if I don't respond within a few weeks, you've been denied, though I try to respond to all applicants. Feel free to apply again after a few weeks after being rejected (since sites do change over time).

Which hosting company do you use?
Depends on when you're asking me. Check the whois for my current host.

Can you help me with _____?
Email me and I'll try to answer specific questions or requests, provided it's reasonable. My email can be found on the Contact Page. However, if it's a general question, I would prefer you post a new topic/thread in the Forum/Community so that someone can assist you.
