Project ROL: Page 76

Page 76
One new page. Well, in the end, I ordered a drawing graphic tablet...and this page is the first I've created with it. Now, just to address some of the emails/comments I've been recieving...yes, there are cheaper tablets on sale out there, but those <$50 tablets are just simple office ones which you use for signing stuff, taking notes, and giving presentations. I wanted a drawing graphic tablet...the difference is that these have better pressure sensitivity rather than the monotonuous lines the cheaper office ones create. That's why I said the cheapest one I could find was $75.

Nevertheless, this damn thing gave me a bit of trouble. I was able to install the driver on Linux...but the support for tablets (or anything art related) on Linux is rather weak. In the end, it was like a giant touchpad mouse rather than a drawing apparatus. So after a few hours of frustration trying to configure the settings...I just gave up and dug out my old Windows CD hidden in the bottom of a huge mess of my old computer stuff. Thus, after a few MORE hours, I backed up all my data, wiped the harddrive, installed Windows on a minimum 7gb partition, got the tablet to work, and reinstalled Linux on the remaining space of my laptop.

In the process of all that technical junk, I "accidentally" lost a few day's worth of new emails, the banner image to the Project ROL layout, and a few minor files. So if you sent me any emails on Wednesday or Thursday...send it again because I lost it. If you sent me something earlier and I still haven't replied, it's because I've been really lazy lately XD

Anyway, back to the original topic, I am really satisfied with this tablet. While, I admit this page looks a bit messier than usual, I'm happy to say that (at the very least) no quality is lost in the graphics. I was expecting a bit more of a learning curve, but I seemed to have figured it out rather quickly. The coloring really is easier and faster with the tablet. The outlining part is still just as slow as (if not slower than) with a mouse...but with practice, I expect that I'll be able to do it much more efficiently. Hopefully, I'll be able to go back to two pages a week now ^_^

EDIT: On second thought...maybe the quality did take a hit. It looks a lot messier than my previous work...I think I screwed up the background and the bubbles. I might go in and fix that later...

EDIT AGAIN: Fixed the colors of the walls to make it match the previous pages and redid all the bubbles. I should really save the colors of the backgrounds because I'm always guessing about which shades of blue-ish green to use XD
